Strengthening Collaboration with Colombia
On 19th of September 2025 Solnua – the powerhouse behind Irish genetics – was honoured to be welcomed by Her Excellency Betty Escorcia Baquero, Ambassador of Colombia to Ireland, in Dublin.
The Ambassador was joined by Alejandro Jaramillo, Director of ProColombia London; Sergio Ramírez, Cultural and Cooperation Attaché; and Carlos Giménez, Economic Officer for a productive exchange with Amanda Collins, Director of Strategy, Marketing & Business Development at Solnua, and Dr. Doreen Corridan, CEO of the National Cattle Breeding Centre.
The discussion centred on opportunities to collaborate in sustainable agriculture, genetic innovation, and rural development – areas where Ireland’s global expertise and Colombia’s growth potential can combine to deliver real impact.
Drawing on Solnua’s proven track record in Argentina and Chile, where Irish grass-based dairy and beef genetics are delivering strong farmer outcomes, the meeting highlighted the clear potential for a similar partnership in Colombia.
“Colombia represents an exciting next step for Solnua. With our success in Argentina and Chile, we know the opportunity to support Colombian farmers with proven, profitable genetics is very real. We look forward to building strong, long-term partnerships here,” said Amanda Collins, Director of Strategy, Marketing and Business Development.
Together, both parties explored practical next steps in dairy and beef genetics, technology and information transfer, and farmer-to-farmer cooperation – with a shared commitment to fostering mutual investment, rural prosperity, and a greener future for both nations.
